Suzuki has fired a serious shot in the flavour-of-the-month whiz-bang new category, that of the ‘Superbike with Comfort’. And, at $25,890 the GSX-S1000GX comes in as the cheapest offering in that class.
So, motorcycle manufacturers have been dragged kicking and screaming into the realm of building bikes that buyers want, rather than the bikes the brands want to build. Yep, there has been a new reckoning in showrooms across the globe. You and I are in charge.
Indeed, that is precisely why we have bikes like the GSX-S1000GX. In short, canny riders want blistering grunt numbers, modern electronics suites and the all-new number one sales factor – comfort.
Think adventure style ergonomics, a hefty dose of attention-getting performance figures and sincerely lessened chiropractic bills – and you will be right on the money.
While there are options out there in showroom land boasting more sophisticated specs sheets, the significant fact here is that there are few with anything like the bang for buck this one offers.

Suzuki GSX-S1000GX pricing and specs
The Suzuki GSX-S1000GX ($25,890) is billed as something of a cross between the GSX-S1000GT sports tourer ($21,990) and the V-Strom 1050 adventure bike ($22,290), with tall and comfortable ergonomics matched with a sporty powerplant and chassis.
While very much related to current GSX-S series models, the GX is distinguished by longer travel suspension, a more upright riding position, increased ground clearance and the inclusion of electronic suspension.
This new electronic suspension system offers four damping settings, while the rear end can be tailored to accommodate varying luggage/passenger weights.
Also aiding the bike’s long-distance credentials is a three-step adjustable windscreen, standard-fit handguards, extensive luggage options, wider touring handlebars, and a thicker more comfortable seat with large grab rails.
Tech features include a 6.5-inch TFT dash, vertically stacked LED headlights, an up/down quickshifter, cruise control and a new traction control system.
