Aprilia will next month release its new RS 660 Extrema, a special edition variant based on its middleweight sportsbike platform, priced from $24,490 rideaway.

The Aprilia RS 660 Extrema will launch in ‘very limited numbers’, distinguished by a number of performance enhancing upgrades over the standard RS 660, which is sold from $22,690.

Distinguishing the Extrema is a dedicated white-and-red livery, SC Project exhaust system, single-seat tail section, a revised carbon-fibre front guard and new belly pan as well as removable rear footpegs. These components contribute to a weight reduction of around three kilograms compared to the standard variant.

The bike maintains its high-end six-axis IMU for cornering ABS and lean-angle sensitive traction control, among other features, although the Extrema gains the ability to set the shifter in an upside-down configuration for track riding.

Motivating the bike is a 659cc parallel-twin delivering 73.5kW (100hp) and 67Nm with a standard up/down quickshifter.

The bike’s settings can be toggled via five rider modes, three of which are fixed, and two can be individually tailored.

Premium components are found across the lightweight and sleek middleweight sportsbike, with 41mm Kayaba forks up front with 120mm of travel, and an asymmetric swingarm with an adjustable monoshock at the rear (130mm travel).

Brembo brakes measure 320mm at the front, while a two-piston calliper squeezes a 220mm disc at the rear.

Also indicating the bikes premium positioning is full LED headlights, with automatic activation, and unique daytime running lights with integrated indicators.
